Lens Baby Composer

My new toy. The Lens baby composer is a selective focus lens that allows you to be as creative and dreamy as you want. Some people say you can get this effect using photoshop anyway but I think thats a cop out. This is what the lens looks like. You have to physically change apertures by dropping in a magnetic aperture ring. Takes a bit of getting used to, but I think I managed to get some decent shots the first time around.

Karma – Cafe Barcelona. Home away from Home

My good friend Karma, of Henry Ate fame, jetted into Jozi for her sisters wedding. Luckily she played one show, which I got to take some pics at. I knelt down in front of the stage and have suffered fatal knee bruises from it. At least some of the shots were semi decent. The show was as always, brilliant. Karma belongs on stage. She is different on and off it – like an artistic chameleon. Here are some of the shots.

Zanzibar Lens

3 friends and myself recently went to Zanzibar to shoot a corporate video for Plan Hotels. I also managed to sneak in some personal shooting time, and made sure we visited stone town – home of the muslim babies, the green walls, the empty coke fridges and the desperate guides who we needed to escape. Here are some of the shots. More to come.

Trash Mogul

The leftover members of Running With Scissors have started a new band called Trash Mogul
I took some shots of them at their first gig at CCHQ the other night, and I think they have a bright disco future. There is something lynchian about them. Oh, and they cross dress.

Blue Donkey

If anything will be the death of me – it will be routine. I am so plagued down by doing the same things, and I think we all get caught in the rut. At the end of the year we look back at a blur of dinners, malls, office walls, club floors, and it all seems so seamless. Last Saturday i took a drive out in the country, and stopped where I thought a good photograph would be. It’s not easy to stop on the side of the highway, so I settled for this. I like the pics I took of these donkeys. They were the sweetest donkeys ever. OH, and there was a horse as well. He was also friendly.

It’s taking me a while to go through these, and the ones Im posting here are not the final shots. These are the ones Ive played with, and have come to love. Go to Jane Wayne on facebook to become a part of the game.
Ive cropped these polaroid style, just because Ive become fascinated with old skool type photography these days, and am re living it, in my own little way.

Cape Town like the old days

Sometimes the after effects of photography are the most time consuming, but the most satisfying. I shot some pics when I was in Cape Town recently, and love the way that the sea and sand turn timeless with certain effects. Below are some of my favourite shots of the moment.

Snow Patrol, Oasis, Panic At The Disco

Snow Patrol, Panic At The Disco and legendary Manchester louts Oasis were recently in South Africa to perform at the Coke Fest. The best things about these festivals, besides seeing the bands, is taking photos. I took way too many to load here, so I will only share a few.

So I was fascinated by this Lomo photography, and especially the old faded square photos from my parents past. I was lucky enough to get a LOMO Diane + for my birthday, so I am dying to try it out. Watch this blog for some pics, and experiments.
